Our silkie hens are hand raised, so they are sweet, friendly, and used to being handled. Silkies usually start laying around 4-6 months and lay 150-180 eggs per year. Silkie eggs are about half the size of a large standard chicken egg, but they contain more yolk per volume and are higher in protein than standard chicken eggs. Silkies also tend to keep laying longer into the winter than standard chickens.
